March Morpho Mania™
|
During the month of March we are highlighting the morpho butterflies. Having imported well over a thousand more chrysalides, our guests will be able to see not only many more morpho butterflies, but two additional species, Morpho amathonte and Morpho achilles.

Join us in the Conservatory
at 1:00 pm every Saturday in March
for a special morpho release.
During a visit to the Butterfly House, you will notice a special morpho display in the Exhibit Hall and informational signs in the Conservatory. In addition, there will be other morpho related activities.
We have also gathered several photos from one of our butterfly farms, El Bosque Nuevo. One can see the sleeves on the trees which house the larvae as they go through their 5 instars. Before the caterpillars form their chrysalides, they are removed from the sleeves and placed on twigs in screen boxes. After the chrysalides are formed they are removed from the branches, packed in cotton and express shipped to us. Click here to view our photographs.
Our Butterfly Directory features one photo of each butterfly species. For additional morpho photographs, including caterpillars and the undersides of the three species we are hightlighting, click here.
