The Case of the Dismembered Cricket

The Sophia M. Sachs Butterfly House sends out an "All Points Bulletin" for Webelo Cub Scout Dens and Junior Girl Scout Troops.  Bugs are committing capers and these mysteries need solving by Scout investigators.  In this 90 minute program, observe the crime scene, collect the clues and solve the case.

Our program meets the requirements for the Webelo Cub Scout Naturalist badge and the Junior Girl Scout Science in Everyday Life badge.   Weekend programs only .  The cost per Scout is $3.50 per child with a limited number of free adults.  Register your den or troup today by calling (636) 530-0076, ext. 13.

                             
Camp Bugaloo 

Each ninety-minute, nature-themed program is packed with science, math, plants, insects and other animals.  This Butterfly House preschool program is designed for kids ages 2 to 4, with a parent or guardian.

Camp Bugaloo:  Blossoms

Calling all budding florists!  Practice plants and bouquets in the pretend greenhouse of the Butterfly House, then plant an alphabet in the boxes.  Dig up the garden trinkets and match them together.

Buzz:  Cook Up a Cricket

Join us for a dining experience like no other.  Sample a real cooked cricket or mealworm that we will prepare right before your eyes.  Learn how insects make up an important part of the diets of people all over the world.  See some real insect based foods from around the world and play our insect-eating game.

Bed Bugs

For families with children ages 6 & older.   Here's a different way to liven up your family Friday nights!  Cozy up together at the Butterfly House.  Slippers and pajamas are welcome and encouraged!  Pricing includes one child and one adult.

Discover some of nature's most incredible insects, listen to stories and enjoy a nature-inspired bedtime snack.

Honeybees:  Friday, April 16, 2010   6:30pm - 8:00pm

Learn about the original self-sustainers as we listen to stories, dance a little message and taste honey-inspired snacks from honeybees.

Butterflies:  Friday, April 23, 2010   6:30pm - 8:00pm

Settle your wings with a story, games and snack against the backdrop of the beautiful butterflies.

Each evening is $18 per child and accompanying adult for non members and $16 for Garden members.  Pre-registration is required, register online.
